I've Fallen And I Can't Get Up!

Due to the death of my old desktop (and laptop) I realized that I’d never shared my exciting artistic news with the online community.  This painting was selected for inclusion in the Oil Painters of America National Exhibition in 2009!  For oil painters, that’s kind of as big as it gets!  It was displayed with 200 others for the month of May at Sage Creek Gallery in Santa Fe, New Mexico.  It was quite an honor to get to “hang out” with the best painters in the country.  I was unable to attend the event due to other commitments, but would have loved to have made the trip.  So there, I’ve tooted my own horn, even if not very loud and over a year late!
I like to be goofy with humor in my titles (and everything else, it seems).  This painting of a tree in a riparian corridor (science talk for a wooded stream) reminded me of the old TV commercial with poor Mrs. Fletcher who’d fallen in her bathroom.  I found that hilarious at the time, but now being older (certainly) and wiser (maybe) I realize that it’s not a laughing matter.  So agreed my lovely wife, who convinced me to change the title to “Woodland Overhang.”  Can you believe she wouldn’t even agree to “Woodland Hangover”?
We will now return you to your regularly scheduled programming.
