I am extremely fond of the “big shapes” that the American West presents the artist. The large mass of mountains, the simple conical shapes of the trees, the heathery mixture that covers the ground, all are a break from our Midwestern overdose of “greens.” This simple scene from near the Tetons was a delight to paint for that very reason!
