Luckily my hair endures as the years stretch on. So I was not intimidated by a stay on the until then unheard-of-by-me Bald Head Island, of the coast of North Carolina. During a week's stay we got to see a Loggerhead Turtle's nest hatch, swim in the ocean, ride bikes, observe wildlife, and of course, paint. This was a plein air piece I did of "Old Baldy," the signature landmark and non-working lighthouse of the island. Overcast and sputtering rain, I knocked this out rather quickly as a storm was coming on.
