Ever since my high school graduation present (a birding trip via Greyhound to Nogales, AZ) I've been fascinated with the U.S. Southwest. Years later I made my first visit to Mesa Verde, then a few years later spent a week on a trip to help with a vacation Bible school for Navajo Indian children. My respect and concern for First Nation peoples has included the Anasazi, or Pueblo Ancestors, as we're now supposed to call them. This interest combined with my heritage as a wildlife painter led me to compose this work from diverse reference sources. Nonetheless, it is very likely to exist somewhere in the vast petroglyph-filled canyons!
