"Night Eyes"

Occasionally I venture back to my days of yore—my many years as a wildlife artist—to go after an idea.  This piece was an attempt to hide something in plain sight.  Here, the Great Horned Owl waits to venture out for the evening's hunt.  It's amazing how these birds can be present but totally unknown to the humans going about their busyness and business just yards away.  Notice how the shape of the owl's "horns" are echoed in the shape of the sky showing through the branches below the bird.
