Sunset Du Jour

Guess you had to be there!
Living in a city, albeit suburbia, mostly feels confining and overrun with restaurants, people, cars and noise. Even westward view from our home is blocked by a two-story apartment complex for seniors.
My island of respite, the university's nearby airport and surrounding fields, gives me an—even if only imagined—escape to the country. Frequently traveling by this area on the way to teaching painting classes or going grocery shopping keeps my spirits up and my eyes open. You never know what visual surprise might await. We all are aware that God switches around his palette for each evening's sunset and no two are ever the same. My schedule hardly ever has me out and about at the right time of day to observe what He's up to, especially those midsummer 9:30 jobs. Somehow on this particular evening, the earthly and heavenly intersected, and I was treated to this magical display.
