Standing on the edge of a cliff overlooking the ocean, I happened to look downward to discover this arch where the waves had worn a hole in the rock cliff face. I held my camera at arm’s length and leaned out as far as I possibly could to capture an image of the spot. It actually showed a lot more than I could see, and was an exciting nudge toward doing a painting. This is the first work based on those photos. I'm excited by the fact that it kind of “sparkles” just like the sunlight that was reflecting off the water!
Juried into AIS 2014 National Exhibition
The AIS announced that my entry of "Rugged Arch, #1" was selected for inclusion in the 15th Annual American Impressionist Society National Juried Exhibition which was held at Abend Gallery in Denver Colorado, October 2 - November 1, 2014. Only 165 paintings were selected from the over 1600 paintings entered. Many of the artists are EXCEPTIONAL, nationally revered painters and I am extremely humbled yet thrilled to have been included for the second year in a row!
