"Morning Light (Old Baldy Lighthouse)"

Our third trip to Bald Head Island, NC was heavenly!  While Ohio shivered with unseasonably cool weather and rain, we basked in near-perfect October weather—blue skies and sun, highs in the 70s to mid-80s, a refreshing breeze and even relatively low humidity.  One of the couples we went with commented on the fact that our towels were dry from our morning showers by early afternoon!

Another of the four couples who shared the house for the week got into a conversation at a restaurant on the island and found that during the week we were there was a scheduled "plein air printout and wet painting sale."  I followed that up by stopping at the "All About Art" Gallery.  A pleasant chat with co-owner Sue Prendergast led to an invitation to participate in the paint out and to consign some work in the gallery.  I'm even invited back for next year's 2015 Paint Out!  

So I painted four images on Thursday and Friday, since we had to pack and leave on Saturday morning.  This one is of the iconic "Old Baldy"—an old lighthouse that was from Civil War days.  One of our traveling friends bought another painting, leaving three to show at "All About Art."
