"Back In Time (Greenleaf Gardens)"

There should have been a big "Serendipity At Work" sign when I stopped the car to take some pictures of these buildings and the plants for sale.  The boy was just getting on his bicycle and rode off by the next snap of the shutter.  The figure added to the scene gives a center of interest that was absent without him.

Having been teaching a group that paints primarily in acrylics, I've dug mine out and have begun to dabble with them occasionally to try to regain my "touch" with them.  This was simply thin wash of color over thin wash, gradually building up intensity as I applied thicker paint, sort of like the oil painter's "fat over lean" approach.  Brings back the memories of my decades of wildlife painting with acrylics.  And the aggravating frustration of the medium's tendency to dry either slightly lighter or darker than the color appears when wet!
